Overnight Care
Restful nights for your loved one and you.
Our overnight caregivers are present from evening through morning — providing supervision, assistance, and the reassurance that someone is always there.
What overnight care covers
Overnight care places a caregiver in the home through the night, for the hours when falls, confusion, and anxiety are most likely and family sleeps least easily. Whether your loved one needs help to the bathroom, reassurance during a restless night, or simply a safe presence until morning, overnight care covers the gap the daytime does not.
Nights are when many families feel the most fear and the least support. Private Duty Aides, founded by a registered nurse, provides overnight caregivers who stay attentive and calm in the small hours, so your loved one is safe and you can finally get a full night's sleep yourself.

Someone awake while the house sleeps.
Overnight care is more than a presence in the home. It is an alert caregiver watching for the 2 a.m. bathroom trip, the wandering, the fall that happens when no one is there to catch it. You finally sleep, because someone else is keeping watch.
Signs it may be time for overnight care
- Nighttime bathroom trips are unsteady or have led to falls
- Your loved one gets up, wanders, or grows confused after dark
- Anxiety, restlessness, or sundowning makes nights difficult
- A recent discharge means they should not be alone overnight yet
- The family caregiver is exhausted from broken sleep
- You lie awake worrying about what is happening down the hall

What does an overnight caregiver actually do?
They provide a safe, attentive presence through the night: help to and from the bathroom, repositioning, reassurance during restlessness, monitoring for safety, and a calm response to anything that comes up before morning.
Does the overnight caregiver stay awake?
We offer both awake overnight shifts, for clients who need active nighttime help, and quieter monitoring arrangements. When falls or wandering are a concern, we recommend an awake caregiver.
How is this different from 24-hour care?
Overnight care covers the nighttime hours only. If your loved one also needs daytime supervision, 24-hour care provides continuous coverage, and you can move between the two as needs change.
Can overnight care be just a few nights a week?
Yes. Many families use it a few nights a week, for a recovery period, or every night, whatever gives everyone safe, restful sleep.
How soon can it start?
Usually within 24 to 48 hours of a quick consultation, and faster when a hospital discharge or urgent situation calls for it.
